Black Friday when you sell to other companies: when it makes sense and how to plan it

If you sell to companies, a discount for everyone rarely works. See when the date makes sense, the three offer paths, the timeline to November and what to measure afterwards.

Black Friday 2026 falls on November 27, a Friday, and in October the usual question shows up at the company: “what are we doing this year?”. If you sell to other companies, Black Friday planning starts before the offer, with the decision to take part at all. When it makes sense, three paths work: a time-limited deal for people already in the pipeline, an onboarding bonus, or content that helps your customer's customers buy better in November. A discount for everyone is rarely one of them.

When Black Friday makes sense if you sell to companies

The date works when the buying decision fits in weeks and the client has a reason to close before year-end. In a six-month cycle, with a buying committee and procurement, a November deadline changes nothing. For a product that is bought and activated quickly, it does.

It makes sense when Skip it when
the sales cycle is short and the product goes live in days the sale goes through months of technical evaluation
the client has this year's budget to use by December the client's budget is already closed
your client sells on Black Friday and needs you before it your audience has nothing to do with the date
the deal fits your margin without becoming a price reference today's discount becomes the baseline for the renewal talk

If your operation landed in the right column, the best decision is to sit it out. The effort pays off more in your marketing planning 2027, which is being closed the same month.

Three paths for the offer

A Black Friday offer for companies swaps the broad discount for a concrete reason to decide now. Each path serves a different audience.

1. A time-limited deal for people already in the pipeline

This is the most direct path. The offer goes only to people who have already talked to sales: open proposals, stalled negotiations, clients up for renewal. The deal has a deadline and a clear rule, such as easier payment terms, the first month free or prices locked for a year.

Communication is almost all direct: segmented email, a call from the rep and a page with the rule and the deadline.

2. An onboarding or service bonus

Instead of lowering the price, the company delivers more for the same amount. Free onboarding, consulting hours, team training, an extra module for a few months. The bonus protects list price and lowers the barrier that stalls decisions the most: the work of getting started.

3. Content that helps your customer's customers

When your client lives Black Friday, the best November content is the one that gets their operation ready for the peak. A guide, a checklist or an assessment attracts people who weren't in the pipeline yet, at the moment their problem is most visible.

A tech client of ours, which sells to companies that feel Black Friday firsthand, took this path with two pieces: a landing page built for the date and a diagnostic quiz that measures whether the client's operation is ready for the peak. Each answer is worth points, and the total places the company in a maturity band, from “reactive operation” to “ready to scale”, with the next step for each band.

The format works because it delivers value before asking for a conversation. To build yours, see how to create a lead generation quiz and how to structure a lead magnet that sales can use afterwards.

The Black Friday planning timeline

The work starts about seven weeks before the date, still in October. One possible plan:

Period What to do
By mid-October decide whether the date makes sense, pick the path and approve the deal with sales and finance
Second half of October produce the resource or the quiz, the landing page and the list of people in the pipeline
First half of November content live, ads to cold audiences and email nurturing
Week of November 23 direct invitation to the base and the pipeline, with the deal's deadline
November 27 to 30 final deadline, from Black Friday to Cyber Monday
December sales follow-up and results review

The offer page needs to explain the rule in a few seconds and have a short form, with only the fields sales actually uses. This is the work we do in landing pages and launch campaigns: one page per campaign, with the ad's message repeated in the headline.

In paid media, a short promotion tends to move conversion rates a lot. For events of one to seven days with a large expected change, Google Ads offers seasonality adjustments, which tell Smart Bidding about the expected change in conversion rate during that period.

What to measure afterwards

Black Friday results for companies show up in the CRM in December and January, well after the promotion weekend. Tag the campaign with its own UTM and CRM source, and track:

  • opportunities created from the offer or the resource;
  • close rate of proposals with the deal, compared with the year's average;
  • sales cycle length for those opportunities;
  • revenue and margin, net of the bonus or deal cost;
  • quiz or resource leads by diagnostic band, and how many turned into conversations.

Keep that review somewhere easy to find. In October 2027, it will tell you in minutes whether it's worth repeating.

Frequently asked questions

When is Black Friday 2026?

On November 27, a Friday, the day after Thanksgiving in the United States. Cyber Monday is on November 30.

Should you offer a Black Friday discount when the client is another company?

Only when the cycle is short and the discount won't become the baseline for the next negotiation. A time-limited deal or an onboarding bonus usually works better and protects list price.

When should Black Friday planning start?

In October. The deal needs approval from sales and finance, and the resource or quiz takes a few weeks to be ready and run before the date.
